The term "workaholism" is now 50 years old and deeply ingrained into our American lexicon, which makes sense considering that the average American works 200 more hours per year today than they did when the word was first coined.
There are probably older icons you’re likely to mention in response to the question this blog post asks. You might have answered Helen Mirren, Sophia Loren, or Madonna. Maybe Lauren Hutton, Diana Ross, Dame Judi Dench, or Cher.
Happy Valentine’s Day. So many of us are wise in the mind but foolish in the heart. Sometimes we even try to apply to our romantic relationships what has worked in our careers. After all, success in one part of our life must breed success elsewhere, right?

I asked a friend who has crossed 70 & is heading towards 80 what sort of changes he is feeling in himself? He sent me the following:
2020 may have been a year of radical shocks, disruptions and dissonance. It was a year of endings. Much of our normal way of life ended. Our ability to travel, hug each other and feel safe being in public ended. The entire globe was thrown into a transition of massive proportions.
I love this TEDx talk from Dr. Alia Crum, partly because it’s further evidence that Carol Dweck’s popularization of the concept of “Mindset” matters. And, partly because one of the research projects Dr. Crum introduces is focused on hotel housekeepers.
Such a hard question to answer. I’d much prefer to answer the question, “Are You Growing Up?” The answer is yes as it suggests the process continues whereas “Grown Up” suggests past tense. As I’ve written in past posts, growing and aging aren’t mutually exclusive.
Today’s video says it all, so I’m not going to write much today other than offer these three principles: Nature is our teacher. As Alice Walker suggested, “In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect.”
