MEA
“OK, Maybe It’s Time to Let Go of This…”
If ever there was a time in our lives when we needed to shed our baggage, this is it. The mammoth changes we’ve had to make in every aspect of our lives has left most of us feeling like we’re running one long continuous, never-ending marathon. And it’s only been a few months.
My Favorite First-Class Badass.
I was recruited to co-host The Inc. Tank podcast last January by the show's founding Executive Producer, Christina Elson. Although I was excited at the prospect of co-hosting with Christina and talking with industry leaders about the impact of innovative technology on business and society, I had a bit of performance anxiety.
The Coming of the Wellness Sabbatical.
Pill. Grim. Age. As people arrive in midlife and beyond, they often pop pills to take the edge off the grim news they’re aging.
The End is the Start.
Rituals are important, especially when it comes to the pivotal moments in our lives. They provide a “rest stop for the soul” and a community-sanctioned show of support for those in transition. It’s interesting that high school graduation is crowned by a “commencement speech,” which serves as both an ending and a beginning.

“Running Out The Clock.”
I love basketball and have suggested this sport can influence how we see our lives (here’s a recent blog post). Before 1954 in the National Basketball Association and 1985 in the NCAA, there was an expression of “running out the clock” with a “four corners offense” meant to stall when you’re winning the game. Some pundits have suggested the Biden campaign has been “running out the clock.” Not a good idea.
The Year of Living Deliberately.
I’m not Mel Gibson. And you’re not Sigourney Weaver. So, we’re not going to replay the film “The Year of Living Dangerously,” set in Indonesia during a time of extreme political turmoil.
Fervor over Sperber.
A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about one of my co-founders, Jeff Hamaoui, after he wrote a post, The Carpenter and the Gardener, dedicated to me and our third co-founder Christine Sperber.
Your Midlife Pitstop.
Early in April, I wrote a post on what the world would be like if we all retired at the same time. Of course, that ain’t gonna happen, but an increasing number of my peers tell me they’re ready for their pitstop or gap year.
Are Acronyms Lazy or Liberating?
I remember the first time I saw the acronym for the Institute for Retired Professional, IRP. Wow, that felt a little too close to RIP! Not sure people later in their career want to join a school that reminds them of a tombstone.
