I come from a family of women who had an entrepreneurial spirit. My grandmother and mother both had several small businesses. Thus, when I became a single parent with five of my seven children still home, no child support, and no family to help, I not only worked a day job but started micro businesses of my own.

I was recruited to co-host The Inc. Tank podcast last January by the show's founding Executive Producer, Christina Elson. Although I was excited at the prospect of co-hosting with Christina and talking with industry leaders about the impact of innovative technology on business and society, I had a bit of performance anxiety.

Things were going pretty badly for Kiera. Life at what she had thought of as her “dream job” had taken a turn for the worse when her relationship with her boss had become toxic. She was just about at the end of her rope, but was too afraid to quit—the only thing that seemed worse than staying was leaving without a plan.

Oh, do we ever miss travel right now, aye? Many of us have a different kind of fever, cabin fever. We’re spending our days dreaming of our past and future adventures and that unrivaled opportunity travel provides us to feel alive!

As schools struggle with the decision to reopen amidst a global pandemic - kids are displaced and parents are anxious - boomers across the country are joining forces to ensure the future generation is not left behind.

Last night was a full blown, full moon show here in Northern California. Driving through the hills of West Marin the moon appeared as a huge pumpkin colored disc on the horizon. Every detail of its surface magnified into startling clarity.

In a post not long ago (“Are You So Woke You Can’t Sleep”), I introduced you to author, speaker, and inspirational entertainer Justin Michael Williams, our youngest MEA grad who is one of the wisest and most soulful people I know.

I’m thinking about the Law of Conservation of Energy today. This law, first proposed and tested by Émilie du Châtelet, means that energy can neither be created nor destroyed; rather, it can only be transformed or transferred from one form to another. I wonder if that applies to aging.

We each play many roles – employee, parent, manager, partner, colleague, volunteer, and others. We often play multiple roles throughout any given day, and during this pandemic, in which our work, relationships and home life fuse chaotically together, we may play various roles within the same minute.
