When I went to see The Temptations last week, I hoped to be entertained. I didn’t expect to have a life-changing experience related to the power of intention.

One of Chip's favorite ideas is liminal space, between two states, betwixt and between worlds. It's the time when the old ways no longer serve, but the new spaces have yet to appear.

As I turn 85 today, I recognize that many friends and acquaintances have passed away. It’s not easy, but you get used to these losses at this age.

The other morning, half-listening to a radio commentator through an early morning brain mist, I heard them say that something was enough to, “reduce a grown man to tears”.

I’m co-leading a retreat and one of the participants strolls up to me and says, “Oh, Denise, yes, you’re a psychologist.”

The man ascended a steep mountain, his long white beard flying in the wind. As he arrived at the top, he paused, took a flute from his sash, and started playing. The melody bounced off the surrounding hills, filled the valley below and made the tree branches dance.

To develop more compassion for others, I have been inspired by this concept:“The other person is you.”

My Mother died this past May. She was 100 & quite sharp till the end. Thanks to her example, I’m 62 and living my best life yet.
