Happy Valentine’s Day. So many of us are wise in the mind but foolish in the heart. Sometimes we even try to apply to our romantic relationships what has worked in our careers. After all, success in one part of our life must breed success elsewhere, right?

Mid-March of last year, I had to do the unthinkable...I had to learn how to love digital. The world had completely changed. And like many of you, I needed to figure out how to leverage new tools in a brand new world.

Is Procrastination your middle name? Do you tend to focus on only the things you like doing or come easy to you? Have you tried various methods to get better organized but nothing seems to work? Since it was first published years ago, David Allen’s “Getting Things Done” has become one of the most influential business books, and the ultimate book on personal organization.

I asked a friend who has crossed 70 & is heading towards 80 what sort of changes he is feeling in himself? He sent me the following:

I love this TEDx talk from Dr. Alia Crum, partly because it’s further evidence that Carol Dweck’s popularization of the concept of “Mindset” matters. And, partly because one of the research projects Dr. Crum introduces is focused on hotel housekeepers.

Such a hard question to answer. I’d much prefer to answer the question, “Are You Growing Up?” The answer is yes as it suggests the process continues whereas “Grown Up” suggests past tense. As I’ve written in past posts, growing and aging aren’t mutually exclusive.

Today’s video says it all, so I’m not going to write much today other than offer these three principles: Nature is our teacher. As Alice Walker suggested, “In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect.”

I tend to steer clear of the clickbait site BuzzFeed, but this particular listicle caught my attention. Their clickbait title was clearly a challenge: If You Recognize Any of These 35 Pictures, I'm Sorry, You're Officially Old. Well, I clicked. And, yes, I’m old.

On the 20th anniversary of my boutique hotel company, Joie de Vivre, we invited 10,000 people with the name Joy from California to a “Joy Party” at our Hotel Vitale on San Francisco’s waterfront with the first 50 of them receiving a free room for the night (hence, a “Joy Slumber Party”). Tears of Joy streamed all night.
